Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
We sent Noah to his people (and directed him): “Warn your people before a grievous chastisement comes upon them.” 1 He said: "O my people, I warn you clearly 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 That He may forgive some of your sins and prolong your term till an appointed time. Surely when God's appointed time is come it will not be put off, if only you knew! 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 “And whenever I called them, so that You may forgive them, they always thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their clothes, and remained stubborn and were extremely haughty.” 7 Then I called them openly, 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 ‘He will send down abundant rain for you from the sky.’ 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 strengthen you by (providing) you wealth and children, and make gardens and streams for you. What is the matter with you that you are not afraid of the greatness of God 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 and placed therein the moon as a light and the sun as a torch. 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing. 18 ‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ 19 That you may follow therein roads of passage.' " 20
