The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 In parchment spread open 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
