۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
