The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
