The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day resplendent 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 But save him who fears 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
