The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and so am I: 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
