۞ NOW WHENEVER [the nature of] the son of Mary is set forth as an example, [O Muhammad,] lo! thy people raise an outcry on this score, 57 And say: "Are our deities better or he?" They say this only for disputing. Surely they are a contentious people. 58 but he was only a servant We favoured and made an example for the Children of Israel: 59 If We pleased We could have put angels in place of you as trustees on the earth. 60 Verily he (i.e., Jesus) is a portent of the Hour. So be in no doubt concerning it and follow Me. This is the Straight Way. 61 And let not the Shaitan prevent you; surely he is your open enemy. 62 When Jesus came with the signs, he said: "I have come to you with authority, and to explain some thing about which you are at variance. So fear God, and follow me. 63 Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, therefore worship Him. That is the Straight Path' 64 But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day! 65 Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not? 66 Friends on that day will be foes one to another, save those who kept their duty (to Allah). 67
