The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 They do not expect any reward 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
