Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 Sent forth from your Lord for the extravagant. 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 Then We laid hold of him and his hosts and flung them into the sea, and he was reproachable. 40 And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind 41 which turned everything it approached into dust. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46
