The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
