Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 – this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 And the begetter and whom he begot. 3 We have indeed created man surrounded by hardships. 4 Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? 5 He says, "I have spent enormous wealth." 6 Thinks he that none sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- 9 and guided him on the two paths (of good and evil)? 10 Yet he has not scaled the height. 11 And what will make you know the path that is steep? 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 To the orphan with claims of relationship, 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 so that he becomes one of those who believe, charge each other to be patient, and charge each other to be merciful. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 As for those who rejected Our Signs, they are the People of the Left Hand. 19 Over them will be fire closed in. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
