No, by the moon! 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mankind, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 until death approached us". 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
