Verily Jonah is one of the apostles. 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 Then lots were drawn and he became of those who were pushed into the sea. 141 then the whale swallowed him down, and he blameworthy. 142 and had he not been among those who exalt (Allah), 143 he would certainly have remained in its belly till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick; 145 and caused a gourd tree to grow over him, 146 and We sent him forth to a nation of a hundred thousand or more, 147 And they came to believe; so We allowed them to enjoy the good things of life for an age. 148 So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons? 149 Or that have We created the angels as females, while they were present? 150 Is it not that they say, from their own invention, 151 “Allah has begotten.” They are liars! 152 Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you decide? 154 Why do you not reflect? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Produce, then, that divine writ of yours, if you are speaking the truth! 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 But as for you, and that you serve, 161 Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah, 162 Save him Who is to roast in the Flaming Fire. 163 And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.” 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers). 166 And surely they used to say: 167 Had we a reminder from those of yore, 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 But they disbelieve in it (the Koran), but soon they shall know! 170 And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, 171 That they would be helped, 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 So, (O Prophet), leave them alone for a while, 174 And watch them, for they will soon see. 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 When that chastisement will descend upon their courtyard, evil shall that Day be for those who had been warned. 177 And turn away from them for some time. 178 and see; and they too shall soon see. 179 Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe! 180 Peace be upon the Messengers 181 And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds. 182
