The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
