The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them. 81 And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure. 82 But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning, 83 Therefore their earnings did not in the least benefit them. 84 And We have not created the heaven and the earth and that which is in between them save with a purpose. And verily the Hour is surely coming; so overlook thou with a seemly overlooking, 85 Surely your Lord is the Creator and knows (everything). 86 And certainly We have given you seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the grand Quran. 87 Do not strain your eyes towards the worldly benefits We have bestowed on some of them, nor grieve on their account. Lower your wing of mercy for the believers 88 And say: Surely I am the plain warner. 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 Those who break the Qur'an into parts. 91 So by your Lord, We will surely question them all 92 About all what they used to do. 93 Hence, proclaim openly all that thou hast been bidden [to say,] and leave alone all those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God: 94 We suffice thee against the mockers, 95 even against those who set up with God another god. Certainly they will soon know! 96 And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say. 97 So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him). 98 And worship thy Lord until there cometh unto thee the certainty. 99
