The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And your clothing purify 4 Pollution shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
