The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 On a Great Day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
