The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 On a Great Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun, heights above the heights. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
