Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 And that it is He Who gave death and gave life? 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 and caused them to be covered with that which He covered them with. 54 So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 So make obeisance to Allah and serve (Him). ۩ 62
