The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
