He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 Olives and dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
