Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 and asked for forgiveness in the early morning. 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
