The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Taught the Quran. 2 He created man 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon are scheduled. 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
