Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 The moon eclipsed, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 and give no thought to the life to come [and to Judgment Day]! 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 No indeed; when it reaches the clavicles 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 And he knoweth that it is the parting; 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 On that day, the herding will be only towards your Lord. 30
