1/2 Hizb 45
< random >
۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 on couches facing each other. 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
