He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 to him thou attendest 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
