The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He created the human 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). 20 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
