Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 and that with thy Sustainer is the beginning and the end [of all that exists]; 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that it is He Who gave death and gave life? 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 What is to come is imminent. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 Wasting your time in vanities? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
