The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night, when it envelops, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
