And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be brought forth? 35 ۞ How far-fetched what you are promised; 36 There is no other life than the life of the world. We shall live here and here shall we die; and we are not going to be raised again. 37 He is only a man who hath invented a lie about Allah. We are not going to put faith in him. 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 Said Allah, “They will soon wake up at morn, regretting.” 40 A blast struck them for a just cause, and We made them look like withered leaves. God keeps the unjust people away from His mercy. 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest, 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 So they denied them and were of those destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
