Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 by the begetter, and that he begot, 3 that We have created man into a life of toil and trial. 4 Does he think that none has power over him! 5 He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" 6 Deemest he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not appointed to him two eyes, 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 Have We not shown him the ways of good and evil? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 It is freeing the neck, 13 the giving of food upon the day of hunger 14 of an orphan near of kin, 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 Such are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 The Fire will vault them over. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
