(Recount to them about the time) when Your Lord called Moses: "Go to the wrong-doing people, 10 “The nation of Firaun; will they not fear?” 11 He said: my Lord! verily I fear they shall belie me. 12 And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me). 13 And they have a charge (of murder) against me. So I fear that they will kill me." 14 (It was) said: "By no means. Go with My signs, both of you. I am verily with you and I hear. 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 so send forth with us the Children of Israel." 17 (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? 18 "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!" 19 Replied [Moses]: "I committed it while I was still going astray; 20 "So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers. 21 "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Said Pharaoh: "And what [and who] is that 'Sustainer of all the worlds'?" 23 Moses replied, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you want to be certain". 24 Said [Pharaoh] unto those around him: "Did you hear [what he said]?" 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers. 26 (Pharaoh) said: 'Surely, the Messenger who has been sent to you is mad!' 27 He said: Lord of the east and the west and whatsoever is in-between, if ye understand. 28 Pharaoh said, "If you take any deity other than myself, I will throw you into prison," 29 [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?" 30 (Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful! 31 So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)! 32 Then he drew out his hand, and it was luminous to the onlookers. 33
