The people of the Wood too called the messengers liars. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Give a full measure and be not of those who diminish; 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption. 183 Have fear of the One who has created you and the generations that lived before you." 184 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 185 You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars. 186 But in case you are speaking the truth, then make a segment of the sky to fall upon us." 187 He said: 'My Lord knows what you are doing' 188 Then they belied him; wherefore there laid hold of them the torment of day of shadow. Verily it was the torment of a Mighty Day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful. 191
