And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
