The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. Those are the signs of the Book and of a manifest Koran. 1 Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam. 2 (Muhammad), leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and let their desires deceive them; they will soon know (the Truth). 3 Not one habitation have We destroyed but at the time determined for it. 4 [but remember that] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [it]. 5 They say: "O thou to whom the Message is being revealed! truly thou art mad (or possessed)! 6 Why bringest thou not angels unto us if thou art of the truthtellers! 7 We send not down the angels, save with truth; 8 Verily We! it is We who have revealed the admonition, and verily We are the guardians thereof. 9 And assuredly We have sent apostles before thee among the sects of the ancients. 10 and never yet came an apostle to them without their deriding him. 11 Even so do we let it creep into the hearts of the sinners - 12 They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples. 13 Though We opened to them a gate in heaven, and still they mounted through it, 14 They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic." 15
