He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him you give attention. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 uplifted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 fruits, and grass. 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
