The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 gardens, and springs. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
