The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ “Measure in full, and do not be of those who reduce.” 181 Weigh with correct scales: 182 and do not defraud people in their property or spread evil in the land. 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They replied: 'You are surely one of those bewitched. 185 for thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! And behold, we think that thou art a consummate liar! 186 But in case you are speaking the truth, then make a segment of the sky to fall upon us." 187 Shuayb said: "My Lord knows well all what you do." 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 191
