The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
