Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said, “Do you see these (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor a true friend; 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
