The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the setting star, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Or is there for man whatever he wishes? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
