The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
