The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
