The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of later ages, 14 on lavish couches 15 facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
