The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And shade extended 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
