The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a few from later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 and upraised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
