The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 for a great Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
