And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
