The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
