a good many of olden times, 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 Under the shadow of thick black smoke 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 They had been affluent before, 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones? 47 And also our forefathers? 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all the former and the latter.” 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 shall eat the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 Fill your bellies with it, 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 (Saying): "We are indeed Mughramun (i.e. ruined or lost the money without any profit, or punished by the loss of all that we spend for cultivation, etc.)! [See Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 17, Page 219] 66 Rather, we have been deprived." 67 Have ye observed the water which ye drink? 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks? 70 Have you considered the fire which you strike? 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74

Notes and Instructions
ColorfulQuran.com displays pages in one of three Arabic fonts. Each may appear with a one-third chance, adding more diversity to the already diverse colors. And the words remain unchanged forever. ColorfulQuran.com will have more beautiful fonts soon, God willing.
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
