The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they differ? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
